Mission

The Physical Plant Division provides and maintains the University's physical environment. The Division's primary purposes are:

  • Keeping the University's buildings clean and sanitary
  • Operating, securing, maintaining, and repairing the buildings and appurtenances, and campus utility distribution systems
  • Providing an adequate and reliable source of electricity, steam and potable water

Other key functions:

  • Providing services and facilities for reliable data, video, and voice communications, and providing 24-hour campus directory information assistance (Telecommunication Systems);
  • Coordinating, direct planning and design of major new facilities; to plan the extension renewal and replacement of plant facilities, to maintain all facility records, to provide daily construction field inspection (Engineering & Architectural Services);
  • Achieving prudent energy usage (Power & Water and Maintenance Services);
  • Providing vehicle transportation through charter buses, vehicle leasing, vehicle fuel and maintenance (Transportation Services);
  • Providing solid waste disposal and recycling services (Recycling & Waste Management);
  • Providing accounting, business, and human resources support to the division and its customers (Business & Personnel).
